Languages from College of DuPage is a Campus Associate Language degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. Foreign language courses are applicable in a wide variety of career fields. As the interdependence of nations grows, people with language skills have distinct job market advantages. More and more universities are reinstating foreign language study requirements, so students who plan to transfer are advised to complete two years of language. College of DuPage's Languages program offers transfer-level credit courses in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Spanish. Students can use the transfer-level courses (2202, 2251 and 2252) to meet Humanities General Education requirements for associate's degrees . All 1100 to 2252 courses satisfy the International Studies General Education requirements. The elementary transfer-level courses (1101 and 1102) comprehensively cover pronunciation, grammar, reading, conversation and listening ability, with attention also given to culture. Intermediate transfer-level courses (2201 and 2202) include reading and discussion of literary texts with increased emphasis on conversation, composition and grammar. Spanish, French and German advanced conversation and composition courses (2251 and 2252) are offered as well as culture courses taught in English about China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea and Spain. Spanish and French courses are offered in a variety of alternate delivery formats through the Center for Independent Learning. Study abroad programs in Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan and Italy offer an additional opportunity to enrich the study of language and culture. View more details on College of DuPage .
