LVNs work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. LVNs possess a broad base of nursing and supportive knowledge, and understanding of nursing principles and the nursing process. Although LVNs have fewer responsibilities and functions than RNs , an essential component of their role is to assist RNs in caring for acutely ill persons or those with complex care issues. LVNs assist in preparing, implementing, and continuing evaluations of nursing care plans.
