Interdisciplinary Art & Design Studies Museum Gallery Studies from College of Visual Arts is a Campus Bachelor Art History degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Its focus is interdisciplinary with a choice of concentration within one discipline. Area of program concentration unique to IADS is Museum Gallery Studies. Museum Gallery Studies The concentration in Museum Gallery Studies is a new course offering at CVA that provides theoretical and practical training for entry-level positions in museums and galleries or further study in graduate school, arts administration, art history, museum studies, and other arts-related fields. Students supplement the valuable cross-disciplinary training in the Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies major with five specialized courses. Introduction to Museum Studies surveys the history of museums and collection, then examines various aspects of the day-to-day operations of the museum or gallery, including collection management, museum education, administration, and conservation . Contemporary Issues explores the place of artistic practice in contemporary culture and relationships between artists and cultural authorities such as critics, scholars and curators. An internship provide directed study and practical experience in exhibition planning and design, curatorial practice and museum education in the CVA Gallery and Twin Cities museums.
