Bachelor of Science WVU Tech, through the Department of Social Sciences and Public Administration,offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice . This program is broadly conceived and carefully designed to provide preparation for many areas and new challenges within the criminal justice system. Students will take courses in Criminal Law, Law enforcement Administration, Courts and Judicial Systems, Criminoogy, and Criminal Investigations. In addition, in order to meet current developments, students will take courses in Constitutional Law, Juvenile Justice , Sub-stance Abuse Policy, Corrections Counseling, Community Based Corrections, Terrorism and Security, Deviant Behavior, Social Stratifi cation, Social Welfare and Poverty, World Religions, Women and Men in Society, Ethnic Groups, and many other relevant subjects. The program will include a semester long capstone practicum externship. Program Outcomes include: 1. Provide a broad academic and multidisciplinary background for students. 2. Prepare students of high character and ethical standards for leadership positions within the employment areas of law enforcement, corrections, probation, parole, private security, and the courts. 3. Assist students in gaining employment within paralegal and criminal law career fi elds. 4. Cultivate in students a realistic awareness of present and historical trends of crime and criminal methodology. 5. Stimulate an awareness of deviant and abnormal human behavior of concern to criminal justice practitioners. 6.
