History from Concordia University - Saint Paul is a Campus Bachelor History degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. History offers students the opportunity to study the past and make sense of the present through a variety of classroom, research, independent and mentored study, travel, service learning, and internship experiences. The study of history is as useful as it is fascinating, stressing an understanding of changes that take place in society over time. Since we learn from experience, we can greatly enhance our learning through the experiences of others. Our majors develop an ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, and the capacity to think clearly and analytically. Because of our small class sizes, students work closely with professors and get to know them well. Students can assist their professors in scholarly research, reading, and oral history projects that provide invaluable experience and insight into many potential professions. We have long-standing partnerships with the Minnesota History Center and the University of Minnesota archive system. Students are placed in real-life, practical internship experiences through which they discover and develop their passions and think practically about their professional aspirations. Whether visiting or partnering with local agencies, hosting a History Day competition, traveling at home or abroad, holding mock presidential elections at an elementary school, or engaging in service-learning, our students are encouraged to apply their learning to the community and world around them.
