Curriculum and Instruction from Coppin State University is a Campus Master Curriculum degree that prepares you for a Education career. Program Description The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction is based upon a framework that provides for the professional growth of the teacher practitioner. This framework includes a cyclical process of inquiry, reflection, application and evaluation. These five elements are incorporated into the activities and assignments in each course of the program through combination of collaborative and individual work. The goal of the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction degree program is to provide a learning environment for the professional teacher in which collaborative efforts between university faculty and practicing teachers result in positive change in the classroom. The program is designed to promote a quality graduate education experience. Every aspect of this program was created with the working professional in mind. The M.Ed. Program is presented through two modalities: on campus and on-line. The learning modalities include video presentations that feature nationally recognized leaders in education, interaction with faculty, classroom applications, and required readings. The on-line program include the use of chat rooms, email exchanges, bulletin boards, and mentors for personal contact. Thirty-six (36) credits are required for each program. A research paper and electronic portfolio are exit requirements. Conceptual Framework The School of Education's Conceptual Framework guides the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction Program. Program graduates are recognized as "Reflective Facilitators of Learning" who will demonstrate knowledge, skills, and dispositions as Reflective Practitioners, Reflective Decision Makers, Instructional Leaders, Action Researchers, Systematic Planners, and Effective Communicators.
