In addition, the AAS degree covers residential building codes, residential system sizing, and advanced comfort systems. Diploma graduates should be able to assist in the start up, preventive maintenance, service, repair, and/or installation of residential and light commercial systems. AAS degree graduates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of system selection and balance and advanced systems. Air Conditioning , Heating, & Refrigeration Technology Program Outcomes Upon completion of all coursework in the Air Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Technology program, the student will be able to: 1. Have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to work with residential and light commercial comfort and refrigeration systems. 2. Demonstrate the trade skills necessary to communicate with peers, supervisors and trade professionals. 3. Perform the start-up, preventive maintenance, service, repair and/or installation of residential or light commercial comfort and refrigeration systems. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of system selection and balance, and advance comfort and refrigeration systems. 5. Handle and use refrigerants in accordance with the Montreal Protocol and Laws of NC.
