Physical Education from Culver - Stockton College is a Campus Bachelor Sport degree that prepares you for a Education career. Health and physical fitness are an important part of the curriculum for all ages. As physical education and/or health teachers, you can help create an awareness of the importance of physical activity, an understanding of how the human body works, and an appreciation for athletic activities for all lifestyles. By completing the C-SC physical education major, students can be certified to teach in grades K-12. Students must meet all the teacher certification requirements for an education degree , including: 1. Student teaching for six weeks at the elementary level and for six weeks at the secondary level 2. Maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 in all physical education courses 3. Maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all professional education courses 4. Preparing a portfolio that demonstrates their knowledge, skills and ability to teach their chosen subject. Student also will complete an internship in a health setting. Specialties Physical education majors can complete additional coursework to earn Health Certification. Health Certification is valid for teaching grades K-12. It requires 35 hours of coursework that includes teaching methods, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, drug education, nutrition, abnormal psychology and sociology.
