The only accredited certificate program of its kind within CUNY, the program is intended not only for those who presently work in a center-based day care program with infants and toddlers (to three years old) or preschool children (three to five years old), but also for those inexperienced in the field who wish to pursue a career. The program consists of coursework that provides knowledge of the educational programs and developmental health, nutrition and first-aid needs of preschool children; extensive field experience in the two education courses to ensure that students fulfill the requirements designated in the application process for the CDA credential; and advisement and counseling offered throughout the program and during the application process for the CDA credential.
