Program Objectives The objective of the Healthcare Administration Degree is to prepare the student for entry level employment in the Medical Assisting and Medical Coding & Billing careers. Topics include medical terminology, anatomy, human diseases, Billing & Coding, basic medical office procedures and clinical medical assisting skills. Students will learn front office procedures such as handling patient accounts and records, word processing and scheduling of patients, among other related administrative medical office skills. The program includes courses in medical documentation and assigning and sequencing diagnostic and procedural codes using universally recognized coding systems. The student will also learn back office procedures such as taking patient histories and vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, assisting the physician with examinations and treatments and performing selected diagnostic tests as directed by the physician. Lastly, the student will be exposed to basic general education knowledge in an effort to enhance the student's awareness. The student will be issued an Associate of Science Degree in Healthcare Management upon successful completion of all program requirements and meeting all financial obligations to Dade Medical College.
