Program Mission Statement: The mission of the Radiation Therapy Program (RATH) is to provide students with both academic instruction and professional, clinical education to prepare graduates to apply for the certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Therapy and to prepare them for a career in the field of Radiation Oncology. The Program further prepares them to integrate their knowledge and skills in Radiation Therapy with the focus and mission of the employing institution. Program Goals: The Radiation Therapy Technology program serves students seeking meaningful careers as radiation therapists, who assist physicians in the field of Radiation Oncology in the treatment of patients with cancer or other life threatening diseases that are cured or abated through the use of therapeutic radiation. It is the goal of the Radiation Therapy Technology Program to: 1) Offer courses that prepare students for entry level positions in the field of Radiation Therapy. 2)Have graduates attain job placement rate greater than 85% within six months of graduation. 3)Prepare and qualify students to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification exam in Therapy with a cumulative average for all students of at least 80%. 4)Maintain an average course completion rate of not less than 80%. 5)Offer students the requisite scientific knowldege, practical skills, and general education to perform their job duties effectively and efficiently. 6)Encourage graduates to pursue advanced degrees or advanced certification and to instill the desire for lifelong learning.
