Introduction DigiPen's Bachelor of Arts in Game Design (B.A.G.D) is an interdisciplinary degree program that prepares students to become designers and artists for the electronic and digital entertainment industries. Graduates will be well versed in game design theory, level design, artificial intelligence design, and general art skills. B.F.A. Curriculum The first year of the B.A.G.D program focuses primarily on the development of foundational knowledge and skills in the following core subject areas: Drawing Tone, color and composition Animation techniques Mathematics, physics, and computer science Game Design and Development Game Mechanics and History Design Documentation Scripting and Programming 2D and 3D Level Design 2D and 3D Environment and Background Art Character Design Humanities and Social Sciences Psychology Sociology and Law English Economics Art History World History Opportunities for B.A.G.D Graduates Graduates of DigiPen's B.A.G.D program will be capable of designing, modeling, and texturing 3D and 2D levels and will have strong foundational understanding of architecture, staging, and set design. At a minimum, they will be able to design levels and worlds for a variety of genres, including urban, rural, fantasy, technological, or science fiction. Graduates of the B.A.G.D degree will also have obtained the skills and knowledge necessary to create video game art assets, including level art, world art, backgrounds, models, textures, and architecture. Some of the potential job titles for B.A.G.D graduates include: Level Designer Environmental Artist Modeler Artist Game Designer Design Director Creative Director While art, animation and visual design are the focus of the B.A.G.D program, graduates will also know basic programming logic and be capable of designing artificial intelligence, triggers, and behaviors. Additionally, they will be able to use existing scripting languages and, more importantly, will be able to learn new scripting languages quickly.
