Environmental Science - Doane College

Environmental Science from Doane College is a Campus Bachelor Enviroment degree that prepares you for a Science career. Doane's environmental programs are interdisciplinary and prepare students to understand and apply the principles of natural systems and their connections to human society. Students complete courses such as environmental science , ecology, environmental economics, environmental literature and environmental history. Graduates of the programs are well prepared to work in the public or private sector on environmental issues, as well as to pursue graduate study in a variety of fields. Environmental Science majors acquire the laboratory skills and field methods used to characterize ecosystems, study the impact of humans upon ecosystems, and utilize undergraduate research to develop problem-solving skills. As a part of completing this major students receive a biology minor and may also participate in paid summer research projects. Mission Statement The Environmental Science Program at Doane College nurtures students' perspectives on environmental topics and provides them with a thorough knowledge of environmental issues at the global, regional and local levels. The program will increase the students' competence in addressing these issues and their origins, consequences, and solutions.
