Chemistry from Dordt College is a Campus Bachelor Chemistry degree that prepares you for a Science career. Chemistry and Christian faith: most colleges see no connection between the two, but at Dordt College you'll see how both give structure and order to the universe, providing a sense of certainty for those who trust in the principles. Students are encouraged to see the wonder and beauty of this world as God's creativity, not just the interesting results of accidents. You will learn to view science as God-ordained human activity and to understand its place in Christian life. You will be challenged to use what you learn for the glory of God and the good of creation, not for selfish or destructive ends. And you will gain a background that will help you confront and withstand the challenges of secular and unbiblical thinking. Academic excellence is never abnegated to get a Christian perspective on your studies. Dordt graduates who go on to further education routinely report they feel fully as well-prepared as their peers from larger schools. Dordt's faculty is highly trained and experienced, and you'll enjoy the advantage of small class sizes where students and faculty work closely together. Professors are also readily available to help outside of class. In addition to course work, most majors serve the department as laboratory or course assistants, combining work-study income with on-the-job training in research and teaching. During recent summer breaks, students have held research assistant positions with the chemistry faculty. Dr. Geels has been doing research on the use of copper salts to reduce the destructive effects of Varroa mites on the honeybee, while Dr. Fictorie has been synthesizing new catalysts for use in the production of biodiesel. These students have presented their work at local and national conferences. View more details on Dordt College .
