The second year builds a foundation by adding detailed design skills, CAD , cost estimation and project management. Designers learn crucial problemsolving skills as they advance through the program. Students begin with basic electrical theory and application, and progress to motor controls, electrical installations, power systems design, and lighting and safety systems. The National Electrical Code (NEC) is studied extensively. Quarterly projects integrate all aspects of electrical layout and build upon the skills acquired in the Arts and Sciences courses.
