The certificate requirements include foundational courses, a set of specialty courses focused on increasing knowledge and skills in either senior services or activities , and a hands-on experiential education component. Degree Outcomes Upon satisfactory completion of this Certificate, students will be able to: Demonstrate understanding of human development over the lifespan and its application to services and activities that might be provided to diverse consumer populations. Identify differing levels of needs of seniors and describe the services and activities that will increase health, wellness and quality of life. Provide therapeutic and recreational activities under the supervision of an activities director or other supervisor. Demonstrate necessary skills for ethical and positive work with consumers, such as communication, group interaction, problem solving and crisis management techniques.
