The department is particularly proud of its Institute for Research and Technology Transfer (IRTT) which contains an automated commercial CNC Turning Center, CNC Milling Center, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Vision Controlled Pick and Place Robot, Laser Cutting Machine, Thermal Spray (HVOF) Machine, Rapid Prototyping Machine and Fuel Cell Research. Advanced programs such as Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) are run on the latest PCs. Courses in Statistical Quality Control (SQC), Electronic Packaging Applications, Robotics, Electromechanical Control Systems and Tooling for Composites complement traditional courses providing graduates with a well balanced background.
