The Veterinary Assistant II program is an expansion of the Veterinary Assistant I program. This Veterinary Assistant school program includes everything in the Veterinary Assistant I program. In addition, the curriculum of this program is expanded to include large animal , exotics, equine, avian, pocket pets, and reptile veterinary care. The student will also learn basic computer usage that is used in a veterinary office. This program will go into more extensive detail than the Veterinary Assistant I program. In the first twelve weeks of this program, Veterinary Assistant Students are taught in the classroom through an established curriculum. In the second thirteen weeks of the program, in-depth studies of large animals, exotics, equine, avian, pocket pets, and reptiles are given. In this portion of the program Veterinary Assistant Students will have actual hands-on experience in the veterinary office (the Externship). Guest speakers and course related field trips will be conducted. In the last thirteen weeks of the program the Veterinary Asssistant student Externship will be more intensive. Students will return to the classroom weekly to review what they have learned in the clinics.
