Although the degree provides the best preparation for transfer to the specific majors in Florida's State University System, a student still may choose the Associate in Arts Degree: General Studies. By completing the Associate in Arts Degree: General Studies , a student satisfies the General Education requirements for FKCC and the state universities and, therefore, is eligible for transfer as a junior to a state university; in addition, with careful course selection, a student who earns this degree may be prepared for transfer as a junior to a specific degree program. It is the student's responsibility to find out the requirements for admission to the major at the university to which the student will transfer. For ssistance in accessing this information, you may visit Advising Services on any campus where you also may complete, through the Career Assessment, an education plan to prepare you for a specific major(s). Once you create an education plan, you may meet with an Advisor to discuss the requirements for a particular major(s) and your education plan. All degree-seeking students must satisfy entry testing requirements and satisfactorily complete all mandatory courses in reading, student success, mathematics and Englishin which the student is placed. Students must complete prerequisites for the program courses and FKCC's foreign language proficiency requirement. Courses meeting the preceding requirements may be in addition to the 60 credits listed.
