Description of Major The Professional Golf Management (PGM) major prepares students who are excellent golfers for a career as a PGA professional at a golf course facility. The PGM curriculum is accredited by the Professional Golfers Association (PGA). Students need to start this major as freshmen since it contains numerous requirements in addition to academic coursework. For example students are required to complete a playing-ability test, PGA sponsored workshops, and 16 months of internship at golf facilities. In the first two years at FSU, students should take courses to complete the following four requirements: Liberal Studies (general education) requirements, Gordon Rule Writing requirement, Multicultural Course requirements, and Prerequisite Coursework requirements. Some courses may fulfill requirements in multiple areas. Electives in the first two years should focus on gaining additional exposure to the social and behavioral sciences, and on improving communication and analytical reasoning skills.
