Program Description The Electricity technical diploma program consists of 28 credits based on the required courses. You will develop an assessment portfolio as a completion requirement. You will cover basic knowledge in electricity, tool use, installation requirements and electrical equipment along with trade-specific mathematics, safety, electrical code, print reading and communication skills. You will gain hands-on field experience by participating in the construction of a residence built on-site somewhere within the Fox Valley Technical College district. You may enter in the fall and complete the requirements within one year. If you enter in the winter semester, you may need to extend your program over three semesters of instruction. You may receive credit for skills or knowledge previously acquired by successfully completing test-out procedures. Program Outcomes Graduates of the Electricity technical diploma program will be able to: Describe electrical safe work practices. Analyze electrical circuits mathematically. Apply basic calculations to electrical installations. Demonstrate use of hand/power tools and test equipment. Perform basic testing of electrical circuits.
