Radiologic Technology from Fresno City College is a Campus Associate Radiology degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. Radiographer's Duties Imaging examinations preformed by, and accompanying responsibilities assigned to a radiographer shall be at the direction of physicians qualified to request and /or perform radiologic procedures. Upon completion of the program the radiographer shall be able to: Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology and radiographic techniques to accurately demonstrate anatomical structures on a radiograph or other imaging receptor. Determines exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic techniques with a minimum of radiation exposure to the patient. Evaluate radiographic images for appropriate positioning and imaging quality. Apply the principles of radiation protection for the patient, self and others. Provide patient care and comfort. Recognize emergency patient conditions and initiate lifesaving first aid and basic life support procedures. Evaluate the performance of radiologic systems; know the safe limits of equipment operation and report malfunctions to the proper authority. Exercise independent judgment and discretion in the technical performance of medical imaging procedures. Participate in radiologic quality assurance programs. Classes are conducted on the Fresno City College campus. Students also attend classes at local hospitals affiliated with the program for clinical experience. An Associate in Science degree will be granted upon successful completion of requirements for graduation, which includes formal hospital training. The student will be eligible to take the State licensing examination and the national examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon successful completion of requirements for graduation.
