Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Outcomes The major categories of the Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Scope of Practice (as defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical sonographers) include but are not limited to the following areas: Performance of those procedures, acts, and processes permitted by law for which the individual has received education, clinical experience and in which he/she has proven competency. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will: Possess the skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of an entry level sonographer Be didactically prepared to apply to the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers for candidacy to Physics, Abdomen/Small Parts and OB/GYN.
