George Fox University?s cinema and media communication major combines the liberal arts emphasis of communication arts with hands-on experience in video, film, and digital media production. With five concentrations to choose from, you design a program that fits your individual needs or interests. All our cinema and media communication majors are grounded in certain theoretical and general production courses. Areas of concentration are particular blends of course work that emphasize aspects of the cinema and media industry. Courses are taught in an encouraging Christian college environment where professors know you by name. Choose from five concentrations: Audio Production Focus on audio techniques for music recording and mixing; sound design for film, video, and new media; and production for radio. This concentration of the cinema and media communiation major prepare students for a possible careers in the music recording industry. Journalism Write, edit and produce material for print, radio, television, and Internet news media, as well as opportunities for documentary video production Film Studies Although the lines between video and film are blurring more and more with each passing year, this concentration is designed to allow those who prefer working with film to gain experience working with 16mm film Multimedia/Animation Study techniques for designing Internet websites, producing 2-D and 3-D animation, and special effects using a combination of creativity, aesthetics and computer software Film and Video Production Students seeking a traditional cinema major will gravitate toward this concentration. Learn all the basics of film and video production, from scriptwriting to postproduction. You?ll also have the opportunity to concentrate on your favorite aspects of production, including directing, cinematography, editing and sound. Study in a program that integrates a Christian worldview with technical and creative skills in the field of audio-visual media ? including film and digital video and audio formats ? for theater exhibition as well as for television and radio production.
