Overview Welcome to the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) at Georgia Southern University (GSU). The Athletic Training major is an area of study that prepares students to enter the athletic training profession. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), this athletic training education program includes classroom, laboratory instruction and clinical experiences designed to prepare entry-level certified athletic trainers. Upon completion of this program of study students will be awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree and are eligible to apply for the Board of Certification national examination to become a BOC certified athletic trainer (ATC). The ATEP is a three-year professional program focusing on the allied health profession of Athletic Training. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities.
