Mission Statement The Division of Business of Glenville State College is committed to educating students to be thoughtful, productive, engaged, and responsible citizens. The baccalaureate resort area management program will supply the business world with individuals who are capable of motivating potential customers and positively effecting the financial position of the agencies these individuals serve. Goals 1. Students who complete the program will be prepared for entry-level positions in resort area management for such entities as country clubs, conference centers, golf courses, state and national parks, and similar recreational facilities. 2. Students who complete the program will be able to pursue advanced training in specialized areas of resort and recreational management . 3. Students who complete the program will be able to pursue a graduate degree with a concentration in resort and/or recreational management or another business discipline. Objectives 1. Students will be able to analyze basic accounting transactions. 2. Students will be able to perform quantitative business calculations. 3. Students will be able to apply technology terms to a Windows-based aperating environment. 4. Students will be able to apply business communication principles to communication situations in business practice. 5. Students will be able to classify basic principles of management theory as they relate to a resort area context. 6. Students will be able to perform basic procedures and responsibilities in resort area management that relate to facilites planning, program organization, staffing personnel, advertising and public relations, and financial aspects.
