Most graduates entering employment with the Federal Government as foresters, range managers, or soil conservationists with a bachelor's degree started at $18,700 or $23,200 a year, depending upon academic achievment. In 1995, the average federal salary for foresters in nonsupervisory, supervisory, and managerial positions was $44,700, for soil conservationists $42,220, and for forest products technologists $58,680.
