Gonzaga's Art Department allows students to investigate a variety of visual experiences through a study of both the studio arts and art history and offers a Bachelor of Arts in Art . Studiocourses allow the student to explore the creative processes involved in the production of original works. Art appreciation, art survey and art history coursework emphasizes the role of the artist in society as well as developing a greater sense of historical context. The department is located in the Jundt Art Center and Museum.The heart of the center is a beautiful studio complex for ceramics,design, drawing, painting and printmaking. A theatre-style lecturehall provides space for art history, visiting artist lectures, and video/film presentations. The Jundt Art Museum provides collection,storage and exhibit areas for Gonzaga University ???s permanent art collection and the ability to not only provide exhibit space for student and faculty art , but changing exhibits of local, regional,national, and international artwork. The most important museum show is the annual Senior Art Exhibit in May which features the work of our talented senior artists. The museum also maintains a print study room for student, faculty and community use and provides a lounge overlooking the Spokane River for art receptions and related activities.
