Special Education from Gonzaga University is a Campus Master Special Education degree that prepares you for a Education career. The Special Education graduate programs at Gonzaga University offer preparation for special education teachers or practitioners who work within public and private schools, clinical settings, and natural settings. All faculty are highly trained and effective special education practitioners and scholars who have extensively worked in the field, published research, and are highly respected by students, parents, and professionals. Students who enter the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special Education initially focus on core competencies and then specialize in one of three areas of interest. Course work and practicum experiences are linked closely so students apply their course knowledge immediately. Three tracks of study are offered: 1) the Functional Analysis track, 2) the Early Childhood Special Education track, and 3) the General Special Education track. The Functional Analysis track focuses on clinical procedures and training of candidates. The Early Childhood Special Education track focuses on effective procedures and training of candidates who will be working with very young children with disabilities (ages 0-5 years). The General Special Education track focuses on State-of-the-Art teaching techniques for working with a large array of disabilities and age range of children.
