The Cardiovascular Technology Program at Grossmont College is a two-year course of study leading to an Associate in Science Degree , or Certificate of Achievement as elected by the student. Graduates enter the health care profession as Cardiovascular Technologists. Students are educated in the theoretical concepts and clinical application of a broad spectrum of courses and techniques, including Cardiovascular Anatomy and Physiology, Physical Principles of Medicine, Medical Instrumentation/ Electronics, and Clinical Practicum. The Cardiovascular Technology curriculum covers four regular semesters and requires a six-week summer session between the first and second years of study. The first year core curriculum of the program is composed of on-campus lecture and laboratory classes, offered primarily in the morning and early afternoon. The second year of the program is a concentrated study in one of three subspecialties within the field consisting of a series of on-campus lecture and laboratory courses combined with clinical experience in local hospitals.
