The facial specialist program concentrates on the care of the skin and the different techniques used in areas of skin care & make-up. This program is designed for the student who wishes to specialize in skin care and make-up application. In addition to the clinic services required, the following is a brief description of theory subjects required to be passed with a 75% or better: Florida Law: this subject covers the laws of the State of Florida governing the field of Cosmetology. Sanitation, Bacteriology, AIDS 101: you will learn very important facts about how AIDS is transmitted, infection and prevention; safety and sanitation procedures, storage of chemicals used in the salon, preparation of implements for the client's protection and identifying the types of bacteria we need to be concerned with. Skin Care & Make-up: this important subject includes the study of the skin , skin diseases and disorders, bone & muscles of the head & face, facial nerves, massage movements and methods, cosmetics and their applications and total skin care . Ethics, Salon Management and Retailing: These closely related subjects will cover grooming, hygiene, verbal and non-verbal communication, how to seek and gain employment, payroll deductions, the importance of retailing, retention and referral and how to successfully present yourself as a Facial Specialist. The Objective of this class is to prepare the student to become a skin care and makeup artist, to follow proper safety and sanitation procedures and to successfully complete the State Board and school requirements to become eligible for registration with the State Board of Cosmetology (DPBR).
