Magnetic Resonance Imaging from Hagerstown Community College is a Campus Certificate Radiology degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging modality that provides physicians with sectional images of the body. Using magnets, radio waves and specialized computers, images are obtained that demonstrate internal anatomical features in anatomical planes. A nation-wide shortage of radiologic and specifically, MR imaging technologist exists. Successful completion of program requirements will assist in fulfilling the requirements for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists' national certification examination in magnetic resonance imaging. This program is open to currently ARRT-certified radiographers , and students currently enrolled in the A.A.S. radiography program or meet ARRT educational requirements for certification. Health care practitioners whose basic educational program was at least two years in length, and who hold their respective licensure or certification, may be considered for this program. Students enrolled in the MRI program are required to meet the same academic, physical and technical standards as students admitted to the radiography program. In addition, the student must possess a current CPR card and, if applicable, a current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist certification and appropriate state licensure.
