AHT is designed for students preparing for jobs as Registered Veterinary Technicians . Students enrolled in the AHT Program will have opportunities to explore many aspects of veterinary medicine including shelter medicine, marine animal medicine/research, laboratory animal medicine/research, small and large animal medicine, and exotic animal medicine. Graduates receive an Associate in Science Degree in Animal Health Technology and are eligible to sit for State and National Board Examinations for Registration as a Veterinary Technician. The AHT Program is not intended to be a pre-veterinary or veterinary medicine curriculum. The demand for Registered Veterinary Technicians is high. Job opportunities for graduates include positions in companion and large animal private practice, clinical laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, education, marine animal medicine/research, government agencies, and the biomedical field.
