Mission The mission of the Master of Science in Education (M.S.E.) in Advanced Instructional Studies is to provide post baccalaureate preparation for public school teachers who wish to broaden their knowledge of the field of teaching as well as the subject matter content. The program consists of 36 credit hours with 18 hours in core professional education courses and the remainder consisting of professional education and/or academic content courses. Content specialization course requirements may range from 9-18 hours depending on how many courses particular academic departments provide. Candidates in the M.S.E. in Advanced Instructional Studies must choose a specialization area. Research is an integral component of this degree and six (6) hours of research courses are required. The Research Problems course allows the candidates, in consultation with their advisors and department chairs, to select an area of research in an academic content or education specialty area.
