Students will: integrate personal stories and learning in the discipline allowing their own experiences to challenge dominant structures and theories. recognize the social construction perspective and how it critiques the notion of "objective truth." recognize the political and ideological nature of all structures of knowledge. recognize the link between self-improvement and social responsibility. translate sense of empowe rment to citizen action. replace subordination/domination and dependence/exploitation with feminist awareness and critique, which makes underlying assumptions conscious. use a critical approach or analysis across disciplines. see holistic, interrelated concept of themselves, knowledge and the world. move from being objects of study to being subjects with a voice of their own. examine what women have done, are doing and will do. seek a link between voice, empowerment, self-esteem and critical thinking.
