All majors are required to compile a professional quality portfolio to be approved by the full-time mass media faculty as a requirement for graduation. Students are also required to complete two internships. The department has over one hundred internships available to help prepare students for employment upon graduation. In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate on the student newspaper, student yearbook, work in the HBU television studio and the departmental darkroom.
