Program Description What do cellular telephones, wireless computer networks, digital video systems, medical imaging systems, advanced security systems, automobile engine/transmission controls, satellite navigation systems, and consumer electronic systems have in common? They all use sophisticated electronics and require highly skilled electronic technicians to build, troubleshoot, and maintain complex communication, control and instrumentation systems. Students in the Electronic Technology program learn to work with electrical circuits, analog and digital electronics , microprocessors and microcomputers. Over half the time scheduled is devoted to hands-on activities in one of our well-equipped labs. Many of the courses in this program are transferable to four year colleges and universities. Students wishing to pursue a four year degree should discuss this with their advisor. Recommended high school courses include three years of mathematics, including geometry and two years of algebra.
