Description: The University offers a bachelor of science (B.S.) in athletic training that provides the classroom knowledge and clinical experience needed to become a certified (and licensed) athletic trainer. The entry-level Athletic Training Program consists of two divisions of study: The preprofessional component provides students with basic study, introductory course work, and clinical observation in athletic training. The professional component is competitive, and is contingent upon students meeting specific requirements. Typically, students who complete the preprofessional component with a grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) are accepted into the professional component. Careers: Today, people in every walk of life are becoming more active. With this trend comes an increasing risk for injury associated with physical activity. The certified athletic trainer is a highly qualified medical professional who can assist with an injury or help a person avoid unnecessary medical treatment and disruption of normal daily life. Our graduates obtain positions as athletic trainers in high schools, colleges, professional athletics , clinics, the military, and a variety of corporate, industrial, and research settings.
