Program Philosophy: The Counseling Psychology Program at Indiana University ascribes to a scientist-practitioner model to doctoral education and training, whereby emphasis is on the development of the professional psychologist in both science (i.e., inquiry and critical thinking) and practice. " Our implementation of the Scientist-Practitioner model is made evident to our adherence to the counseling psychology tradition that stresses optimal functioning and development of individuals, groups, and families with attention to the context in which people interact. These contexts include: educational, vocational, community, and societal milieus."
