Music performance involves a concentrated study of a primary instrument or instruments (including voice) including the techniques and problems involved in live performance. The student will develop his or her craft in performance and cultivate the musical skills needed for performing music of many styles and periods. The student in enrolled in music performance as a concentration area will take four semesters of coursework in music theory and music history, perform in university ensembles, and receive four semesters of private one-on-one lessons in an instrumental/vocal area with faculty.
