What You'll Become The Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management prepares you to manage the food service needs of hotels, resorts, restaurants, clubs, theme parks, and cruise lines. You may also find employment with contract food services, school food services, businesses, and areas of the travel and tourism industry, as well as in connection with special events, conventions and trade shows, and weddings. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, average employment growth is expected in this industry through 2016. In 2006, food service managers held about 350,000 jobs, according to the labor study. About 45 percent of those in the study were self-employed as owners of restaurants or other food service businesses. Thirty-eight percent of all salaried jobs for managers were found in full-service or limited-service restaurants, according to the study.
