Food laboratory experience involves knife skills, baking and cooking basics, soup making, stock and sauce preparation and many other various styles and techniques of cooking and baking. As a student, you will have several opportunities to create catering menus and actual hands-on catering set-up and service. As a second year student, you will have the opportunity for off-premise internships. The second semester has a concentration in Hotel Management with learning the basics of front desk and housekeeping which are the foundations of lodging. The Explorer's program located at the Hyatt Regency, downtown provides the students with the ability to have hands-on experience in a large business hotel. After completing the two year curriculum and work experience, the students can earn certification and scholarships from either the National Restaurant Association or the American Hotel/Motel Association. Students also have the opportunity to compete at State and National levels through these associations earning knowledge and scholarships.
