The experienced welder makes excellent wages, but must be willing to work under conditions that often require strenuous physical activity. Sample of First Year Activities/Topics First year welding will learn how to use oxy-fuel torches, shielded metal arc welders , and gas metal arc welders. Students will also learn basic shop math and blueprint reading.
