This foundation not only enhances the educational experiences of preservice teachers at the senior colleges and universities, but also positively affects the quality of their performance in the birth through twelfth grade (B-12) setting. By creating an academic culture that is responsive to the needs and diversity of the preservice teacher, the Jefferson College Teacher Education Program models the constructivist teaching philosophy. The program consists of a fourteen-hour core of education courses that includes a 40-hour field experience component. Students who complete the 14-hour core and graduate with an Associate of Arts degree will receive a program completion stamp on their transcript.
