The program actively contributes to the university, and the broader community, through its BFA Degree programs, student work in the Design Studio, the research and innovative projects of the Design Center, and the creative output of students and faculty. The primary goals of the Visual Communications curriculum at Kean University is to educate students to become creative thinkers and professional practitioners in three related areas of this discipline: graphic design , advertising design, and interactive design . The learning outcomes for students in the Visual Communications major include learning to: Utilize various forms of graphic design, advertising design and interactive design to convey ideas to a mass audience, emphasizing sense and sensibility, graphic impact, and clear communication. Address needs of the client and audience focusing upon strategy, goals, objectives, outcomes, and accountability to client and society with emphasis on solving problems creatively and responsibly. Practice design as a dynamic process utilizing reason, research, idea generation methodologies, intuition, embracing technology and traditional skills to create pertinent and imaginative solutions.
