Rationale A Bachelor of Science degree in Counseling Psychology equips students for entry-level human service positions in local congregations, Christian social service programs, and community agencies. This program emphasizes a growing recognition that the integration of the resources, training, and insights available from Bible/ministries/theology and from psychology in an interdisciplinary endeavor provides graduates with meaningful and effective strategies for addressing human problems. A major in Counseling Psychology would be appropriate for students who intend to enter graduate programs in clinical psychology , marriage and family therapy, or social work. Program Goals for Major in Counseling Psychology To provide students with the knowledge, values, and skills necessary for an entry-level human service positions. To prepare students for graduate study in counseling . To help students integrate biblical/theological issues with counseling theory and practice. To guide students in the development of an understanding and appreciation of the many factors which contribute to human diversity as it applies to a theory and practice of counseling which is distinctively Christian.
