It has two full-time and six part-time faculty presenting students with a variety of backgrounds, interests, and teaching strengths. Three of our faculty members have Ph.D. degrees and most have contributed to the discipline by publishing or presenting original research. The History department strives to educate students to understand and appreciate the human experience, think critically and communicate effectively. Over the past 20 years, the History Department has won more teaching awards than any department on campus. History is the bedrock of a liberal arts education, and it helps prepare a student to do many things. Programs of Study History major leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree. What can I do with a history degree? History is a versatile major, providing graduates an excellent basis for a variety of careers in public and private sectors. Our majors who have gone on to graduate school, law school, or seminary tell us they were well-prepared. The students who graduate with a history degree become teachers, coaches, attorneys, people in business, civil service, public relations, insurance, the ministry and homemaking.
