Landscape Design & Construction from Kishwaukee College is a Campus Associate Landscape degree that prepares you for a Architecture career. The Program The Landscape Design & Construction curriculum provides students with the option of a one - year certifcate in Landscape Design & Plant Identifcation (24 credits) or a two year A.A.S. degree (68 credits). The certifcate program concentrates coursework in landscape design while the A.A.S. degree requires general education courses, such as English, social studies, and mathematics, in addition to the general landscape design courses. Students in the Landscape Design & Construction program learn from hands-on experiences to prepare them for the landscape industry. A spring semester internship allows students to work with an employer to gain industry skills. A hardscape class and campus horticulture work week offer students the opportunity to learn construction skills and implement landscape plans. Students are encouraged to participate in various landscape related competitions. During the fall semester, students compete with their piers from other colleges and universities in the Illinois Green Challenge Day. During the spring semester, landscape design students enter drawings in the Illinois Landscape Design contest. Students in this program have the option of transferring their credits to a four year university where they can focus on a degree in landscape architecture or a related horticulture area.
