Engineering Bachelor from Knox College details

Program Format: Campus Program Level: Bachelor

Engineering from Knox College is a Campus Bachelor Engineering General degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. Today's engineers must demonstrate technical competence as well as leadership in broader moral, political and social issues. Knox addresses these needs through a "3-2" dual-degree program in engineering offered in cooperation with four of the nation's top engineering schools -- Washington University in St. Louis; Columbia University in New York; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York; and the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Through the dual-degree program, you can earn two degrees in 5 years: a bachelor of arts from Knox and a bachelor of science in engineering from the cooperating institution or another accredited engineering school that you may choose. By the fall of your junior year, you must complete basic courses in the sciences (including physics, chemistry, math and computer science) with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. This allows you to postpone specializing in a particular field of engineering for at least three years and gives you time to explore other interests. With the recommendation of the program adviser, you can apply for admission to the cooperating institution of your choice. If basic requirements are met, Columbia, RPI and Washington University accept Knox dual-degree candidates on the recommendation of the program adviser. The University of Illinois handles dual-degree students like other transfer students and admits them competitively, but very rarely is a Knox student refused. Certain departments, such as electrical engineering, may require higher grade point averages. View more details on Knox College .
