What is the I/O-MHR Program? The Industrial/Organizational Psychology ? Management and Human Resources Program (I/O-MHR) is for students preparing for administrative positions that do not require licensure. There is an emphasis on the integration of theory and practice. It is a 48 credit hour program which is normally completed in three years, however can be completed in two. This program does not prepare students for licensure as Professional Counselors or Marriage and Family Therapists. How does the Program Progress? The program has been crafted to provide a sequential experience for each student from knowledge base, to skill development, to application. Two content areas are addressed: a) psychological theory and practice and b)organizational psychology (e.g. motivation of employee's leadership styles, organizational development). There is an emphasis throughout the program on the integration of theory and practice. Once students have a sound knowledge of psychological and organizational theory and appropriate skill training in the program, they obtain internship positions in line with organizational psychology . The typical placement is from 10 to 14 hours a week and runs for two academic semesters. The Philadelphia area, with a wide variety of organizations ranging from Fortune 500 to much smaller companies, is especially rich in practice possibilities. Internship sites have included: Asher & Company, Ltd. Bergen Briller Group, L.L.C. Fox 29 ? WTXF ? TV Northern Light Community Center Target Corporation U.S. Postal Service ?
